Cleaning a Dryrobe®

So, how do you clean a dryrobe®?

Dryrobes® ideally shouldn’t be put in the washing machine like you would with a traditional fabric coat, as this can damage the special water repellent coating that makes your dryrobe® keep you dry.

Instead of machine washing, shake your dryrobe® and gently brush with your hands to remove any loose dirt – this may work better when the dirt has dried – then wipe the area clean with a cloth or a sponge dampened with water.

If you still feel like your dryrobe® needs washing, we recommend hand washing your dryrobe® in cold water with a small amount of non-bio detergent or a specialist textile wash designed for breathable fabric such as the Toko Eco Textile Wash.

If machine washing your dryrobe is absolutely necessary, follow these steps:

1. Brush any excess dirt by hand, then wipe with a damp cloth.
2. Turn your dryrobe® inside out
3. Place in a laundry bag or the dryrobe® Guppyfriend Washing Bag
4. Add a small dose of non-bio detergent or specialist textile wash to the machine as usual. Do not use fabric conditioner or bleach!
5. Wash cold at 30 degrees or lower on a delicate spin cycle.
6. Hang your dryrobe® or lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry.
7. Re-apply a waterproof finish if necessary, using a waterproofing spray such as Nikwax, available directly from dryrobe®

Note that machine washing your dryrobe® is not recommended as this can damage the waterproof quality of your garment and shorten the lifespan.
