1) How do I select the right size and type of race skis?
When selecting the right ski for you, the most important factors are height, experience, and the type of ski racing you prefer. Shorter skis are better for tight turns in confined spaces and are good for weaving through tight slalom courses. Longer skis can be more forgiving and offer better float at the cost of manoeuvrability. Your race skis should be proportionate to your height.

2) What are the main differences between SL skis and GS skis
The difference between SL and GS skis is the turning radius. GS skis are longer and have been designed for wider turning. SL skis are shorter and designed for super tight turns and easy switching back and forth.

3) What is the difference between an FIS race ski and a recreational ski?
An FIS legal race ski complies with the International Ski and Snowboard Federation regulations for competitions and is a requirement for all serious competitors in official, high-level ski racing events. FIS race skis are stiffer and are built to operate at high speeds down groomed runs. Consumer skis or casual skis are designed to be more flexible and versatile in a wider range of conditions. FIS skis are a tool for hardcore athletes, made for ski racers who are serious about competing. If you’re a casual skier or a beginner, explore our range of all mountain, freeride and piste skis instead.

4) Are there any specific differences between men’s and women’s models in high-performance race skis?
The primary difference between men’s and women’s skis is the length – there is no difference in composition or performance. The length of the ski in proportion to height plays a big factor in control; shorter skis provide more agility and tighter turning, whilst longer skis offer more stability and float. Shorter men may find women’s skis easier to control, whilst taller women may be more suited to men’s skis.

5) Do I need special ski boots to get the full performance from race skis?
Yes! In fact, fitted ski boots are more important than skis. A properly fitted ski boot with a custom liner provides comfort and control, letting you stay out on the slope for longer and spend more time training. Our boot fitters are Masterfit and Sidas qualified and will ensure your ski boots are perfect for you.
