Shin Guards
Skiing shin guards are specially designed to absorb impacts from gates in slalom races, protecting your lower leg from impact. They differ from hockey shin guards or other sports shin guards you might already own, as skiing shin guards have been created to absorb repeated hard impacts from gates. They’re also longer to protect the full length of the tibia and have an aerodynamic design to improve speed. We stock popular skiing shin guard brands like Leki, Kerma, POC, One Way and Shred in both junior and adult sizes.

How do I choose the right size shin guards for a junior racer?
Skiing shin guards for children will be indicated as junior size, and will usually fit kids under the age of 16, though the most important factor when choosing a shin guard is height and size. The right shin guard will cover the full length of the tibia and protect the whole lower leg, meaning taller children may want to use an adult shin guard, and shorter adults may find a junior size provides a better fit.
Can I use these shin guards for giant slalom (GS)?
Yes, our shin guards are suitable for both GS and SL disciplines to protect your lower legs from gate impacts. Shin guards are more necessary for Giant Slalom as GS is faster and uses more flexible gates that are more likely to spring back.
Do these guards fit over any brand of ski boots?
Most skiing shin guards offer a universal fit with any boot, but if you’re concerned about the fit, you’re welcome to bring your boots with you to our Sheffield ski shop, and our friendly team will help you choose a shin guard that feels comfortable with your boot.
