What should I look for in an FIS race suit?

An FIS race suit should meet the current regulations for aerodynamic performance. They should be made from an appropriate material that wouldn’t offer an unfair competitive advantage and will be marked with the FIS approved logo (usually on the label). We offer race-ready skiing skins from FIS approved brands, including POC and Extreme.

Do I need specific base layers for ski racing?

We recommend merino wool baselayers or synthetic materials, as these fabrics regulate temperature and wick moisture to help you retain warmth. Ideally, good-quality base layers should have flat seams to prevent pinching, be flexible for comfortable movement, and feel form-fitting to improve aerodynamic performance. We love Falke brand base layers – they also make excellent ski socks.

How tight should a ski race suit fit?

A race suit should offer a tight but comfortable fit with no bunching fabric. It should feel form-fitting but without limiting movement, like a second skin. You should be able to comfortably squat into a tuck position and have a full range of motion.

If you’re between race suit sizes, pick a size down, as too much loose fabric will create drag and reduce performance, impacting your times.
